Am I anonymous?
Yes. When you post a message on Upingme, your identity is shielded by the Magic Number. When people reply to you, they reply to the Magic Number which the system uses to forward the message to you.
Why do I have to txt a +41 number to post?
Rather than have different access numbers for each country or network, meaning many many different access numbers, managing lists of access numbers etc etc, we have one single number for everyone everywhere in the world to publish, post to and share. Wherever you are and wherever you travel to, the Upingme access number stays the same.
What does registration cost?
Registration is free and we promise to never give out or sell your phone number. When you reply to a message, only the person who posted the message you are replying to will be able to see your number, so that she can contact you.
Do you have a privacy policy?
Yes. Here it is.
What does everything else cost?
During our beta testing phase, The only charges you will incur are from your cellular provider for sending texts to the Upingme access number. Texts to 80818 cost one Pound.
People who want to reply to a message are the ones who pay. Shouldn't it be the ones who post? It costs me £1 to reply to a seller of a toaster (as per example) and just because I send the message I might not end up buying it anyway.
When you buy a paper classified ads publication, you pay the price of the newspaper, and you can search through a few thousand ads by hand. To find what you want with Upingme, you can search (eventually) MILLIONS of ads for free until you find just the one thing you are looking for, and then we put you in direct contact with the seller / person. When you buy your classified ads newspaper there is no guarantee that you will find exactly what you want, until you read it so the proposition is almost the same, except that with Upingme you can search our listings for free forever until you find what you want.
How do you use my cellular number?
We only use your number for Upingme services and for nothing else. Upingme never sends out messages to its users, other than those that they request from the service. Once you delete all your messages, you will not receive any replies from Upingme. If you delete your Upingme account, your number is erased permanently from the Upingme system, along with your location, all of your messages and your replies. You can delete your messages directly from your mobile phone at any time, or from your web account, and you can delete your account completely from your mobile with a single text message. We will never sell or rent your number to any third party.
Can I stop people from searching for my location on Uät?
Yes. You can set your number to 'private' on your Upingme user page. When you do this, no one will be able to get your location from that page; when someone searches for your number, it will simply say 'Nowhere'.
Do you store the phone numbers that people search for with the Uät slot?
No. That would be evil. We also do not store what IP searched for what number. None of that is our business and neither is it of any interest or use to us.
Do you send my phone number to Google?
No. We only send the address that you set with Uät to Google Maps, and they use that address to generate a map. No information about you is sent to Google by us.
How are you going to make money out of Upingme?
We charge one pound or its equivalent to each user who wants to reply to a message on Upingme. Putting messages onto the system will be free, and all other Upingme services and mobile functions will remain free.
Kaywa.com Does not have a QR-Code reader for my phone, where can I find one?
